Overview

The workshop focuses on providing participants with essential knowledge and skills in bicycle maintenance, which is necessary for the upkeep of bicycles and for ensuring a safe and comfortable ride. The workshop is both theoretical and practical, with the instructor, Dave Lim, holding certifications as an instructor at the United Bicycle Institute and a bike fitter at Retul University.

During the hands-on activity, participants are given a step-by-step guide to the entire maintenance process, from pre-disassemble checks, disassembly, cleaning, preparation, assembly, reinstallation, final torque confirmation, and finishing. Practice bicycles and tools are provided for participants to try out and gain hands-on experience, and Dave and his assistant George are available to provide assistance and explanations to ensure everyone stays on track.

At the end of the workshop, participants receive a certificate of completion and an additional 4-hour practical session at Dave’s workshop to practice their newly acquired skills on their own bicycles, with professional help and tools provided. The workshop has been found to be insightful and useful by participants, with some expressing appreciation for the guidance of experienced cyclists, Dave and George.
